An Advocate ~

An attorney for thirty years, I have served as an advocate for my clients, using my verbal and writing skills on their behalf. As a member of the City Council I will use these skills on behalf of the people of Ojai.

A Leader ~

Serving as President on the Board of Trustees of the Ojai Center for the Arts (1996-2002) I found that honest and open communication is a key ingredient to leadership. Effective leadership includes:

(1) have a vision of what you wish to accomplish;

(2) create a welcoming environment, one in which those with energy, ideas and talent can put these attributes to work;

3) actively listen to all points of view trying to find a common ground;

(4) take action that furthers the vision; and

(5) look at ideas that do not work not as mistakes alone, but as opportunity to learn.

A Healer ~

After practicing law for ten years I did something that may surprise people, I took a five year sabbatical and went to massage school, something I have never regretted.

As a healer I learned that knowledge and wisdom come to us in many ways. It comes not only from lawyer-like logic but also from a deep seated, intuitive knowing.

I will bring this balance and complete approach to problem solving as a member of the council.
